Glengary & There is always something new-to-me

Siege of Glengary was this weekend and it was positively lovely.  The weather was nothing short of perfect and the event offered lots of activities for Sylvan Glen's visitors to enjoy.

I also got to assist with something I had never done before, offering a Queens' Lunch, at the event.  Sir Xenophon created a lovely vegetarian menu (as TRM are vegetarian) and I assisted with the pre-cook, as well as finishing things off and serving the fare at the event.  We offered Turkish apricots stuffed with cream cheese mixed with toasted hazelnuts and pepper; melons in a yogurt sauce with cardamom, lime and honey from our hives; garlic soup with egg; a spicey lentil dish with spinach, mushroom barley risotto; pistachio cookies with mixed berries that you could serve on top; and finally a dark chocolate custard (ok, the chocolate is not period, but it was positively divine).  I also made a ginger lime sekanjabin using a prosecco vinegar that turned out well.  I had a fantastic time cooking and was glad to have this very new-to-me opportunity!

We also hosted a fiber solar and Lady Rosamund duGrasse was kind enough to start the event off while I was finishing with the lunch.  She instructed several new students in drop spinning and also showed others how to use a spinning wheel.  We also had a variety of artisans show up to socialize while they worked on their weaving, leather craft, knitting or other items.  

In addition to the solar, there was a backpack basket class that happened that looked absolutely amazing and a four hour wood working demonstration.  Fantastic to have so many awesome artisan displays and classes happening at the event :-)

Feast was fun as well.  I had a great time chatting during the meal as well as running back and forth to serve food (though I have to note that by the end my left knee was swelling something fierce, lol).  The mushroom-bacon dish and berry pancakes with honey cream were my favorite part of the meal.  Much thanks to Lady Arianna and her staff for our tasty dinner!
