Eventually I want to own (or ILL/scan) all of the books covering the major Viking settlements. My current stash is pretty impressive and eventually will all be added to Mendeley so I can churn out a full list of my resources. (Who knew that it would be THAT much work to pull together???)
To add to my collection I now have the book covering animal bones, textiles and textile equipment from Ribe!

I am looking for ANY documentation on hats found at Birka. Unfortunately, I keep coming up with dead links or nothing. I spent the entire day at the local university library only to come up empty...please advise

Your best bet is to get the books on Birka from Inter Library Loan (it is not something that most libraries will have). It is a three part series - one has information on each of the graves, one has artifacts and one has textiles and discusses clothing. (Note that I was easily able to obtain the entire set via ILL. The downside is that it is not in English.)

Oh forgot, this is the textile book I mentioned: Birka: III. Die Textilfunde aus den Gräbern, by Agnes Geijer
